Have you ever been caught between the feeling of wanting to try harder or wanting to walk away?.
When you used to work so hard and nobody appreciate you until you no longer do it.
Appreciate effort no matter how small, silly or irrelevant. A person who feels appreciated will always do more than what's expected. Being told you're appreciated is one of the most simplest yet incredibly uplifting things you can ever hear. It's better than constantly reminding a person what he or she is lacking. You know what they say, keep hearing it and you'll believe it. Keep doing it and it becomes a habit.
A simple Thank you! Good job! Nice work! How are you today? Thank you for being early, I'm glad to see you here, I really admire your ability to... will do the trick. Most employees rarely receive this gift. The best thing about appreciation is that it is FREE. Why not be generous about it.
On this note I like to quote Richie Rich: My father never fired anybody. He always said that when people are secure in their jobs, they work harder, they work happier, they work better.
I'm not pointing this out to be critical, I've made the same mistake too. But then again appreciation must start with oneself. When you do, be sincere. Appreciation begets appreciation.
I am happy being here a long time. This job does not just put food on my table. It is my place of pleasure. My space to be me. It makes me feel fulfilled. Everyday I consider myself lucky. Nobody can just be here, I choose to be here. I have had my share of success and failure but it doesn't mean that I am giving up. I have a lot to be grateful for and I will not let negativity win over me.
What to choose. Well I chose to give a second chance a chance. I appreciate it, I'm grateful for it, I'll work harder for it.
